The first day of winter is only a few days away and you know what that means! Our favorite event is back for the FIFTH year in a row; the fifth annual Winter Riders Challenge!
WHAT IS IT?
The rider with the most miles ridden between December 21st, 2022 and March 20th, 2023 will win some awesome prizes. The rider with the second most miles will also win a prize.
This year we will have all engine sizes in the same category. Everyone who rides a 50cc and up is welcome to participate.
HOW DO I GET SIGNED UP SO I CAN BEAT EVERYONE?
Send us a picture of your odometer on Wednesday, December 21st, on Facebook, email us at info@vespaportland.com, or text us at 503-222-3779. You can start the challenge after December 21st if you choose, but you’ll be starting at a disadvantage.
HOW DO I TRACK MY PROGRESS?
As often as you’d like, check in with us to have your total miles updated. You can either stop by Vespa Portland or send us an updated photo on Facebook Messenger, email or text. We’ll post standings periodically throughout the winter to show who is on top!
RIDE RESPONSIBLY
While enjoying this friendly yet likely chilly competition, please note that we do not recommend anyone ride in snowy or icy conditions and that caution should be exercised while riding in cold conditions in general. Vespa Portland is not liable for any damages or injuries that may result from participating in the Winter Riders Challenge.
Final odometer readings must be given to Vespa Portland by March 20th, 2023 to be counted toward the final mileage totals. Due to the nature of the competition, no grace period after March 20th can be allowed.
No purchase necessary. The competition is open to all modern and vintage scooter riders in the Portland, OR area.
Vespa Portland staff will also be riding in the competition but are not eligible to win.
Thanks for participating and ride safe!
Various Vespa related gifts can be yours (or someone else’s) here!
This wonderful green scooter is Natasha’s favorite way to get around.
The 2023 Vespa GTS is here! In this video we walk through the bells and whistles. Come get one – you’ll love it.
I completely forgot to mention there is now a low tire pressure sensor on the scooter and an icon that appears on the dash when you’re low. Nice to see that addition.
Also a correction: the MIA system is only available stock on the Super Sport and Supertech. It is NOT on the base model or Super but is an accessory that can be added later if wanted.
This video walks through the settings menus on the Vespa Primavera Sport or Sprint Sport. We do not cover how to pair a phone or headset in this video – that will be separate.
SENA bluetooth communicators are a game changer when riding for audible directions, and entertainment like listening to some tunes, a podcast, an audiobook, or even taking a call. This video shows how to install the base speakers of a SENA. It’s basically the same on every SENA despite some small design changes that occur between the model range. The hardest part is finagling the wires around and getting the speakers set in the right spot.
Come learn about the NIU UQi GT, then get one and have a great time riding around enjoying life.
After a two year hiatus, the 26th annual Spring Scoot is officially back for 2022! Tonight kicks off the most anticipated scooter event of the year. We are thrilled to be a part of this year’s event and are looking forward to seeing everyone there!
Below is the schedule for this weekend!
Click here to RSVP at the official facebook event page and to view discussion for Spring Scoot.
Reminder: Vespa Portland will be CLOSED this Saturday May 21st.
Tonight
Pre-rally at The Vern – 2622 SE Belmont St
7pm to 9pm – Kick things off for those who are getting into town early or are just ready to get this into gear. Hang out, get yourself some dinner, and get ready to ride to a special screening of Quadrophenia!
Friday
Gladstone Street Pub – 3737 SE Gladstone St
6:00 PM – Grab a bite and a drink and mingle with your friends. Riding out around 8:30/9:00 to second stop.
Saturday Morning
Cyclemaster Coffee 2747 N Lombard St
10:00 AM – Get yourself caffeinated, grab a sandwich or some biscuits and gravy. Don’t worry, they will have some hair of the dog options as well.
This year we are planning to have two rides depart to join at the end spot. 80 mile out-of-town higher speed ride as well as an across-town ride for 50cc or the easygoing crowds.
Very important – make sure you bring your towel (and swimming gear) for the end spot.
Saturday Night
Lay Low Tavern – 6015 SE Powell Blvd
8:00 PM – More bands than you can shake a stick at!
Baby Graves – Last Responders – Shock Troops – Stumblebum
Sunday Morning
Greeley Ave Bar and Grill – 5421 N Greeley Ave
10:00 AM – Breakfast, raffle, awards
After it’s wrapped up, we’re riding to the Edgefield (make sure that towel and swimming gear is ready again). May take a little break at a halfway point.
As is normal with Spring Scoot, we’re staying Sunday night at the Edgefield. Get a room if you haven’t already, but we’re not leading a ride back into town (though it’s pretty easy, Halsey goes all the way back)
Monday Morning
For those who stayed, probably find each other for breakfast and maybe another quick dip before we head home. No planned ride but usually a solid group makes their way back together.
This year’s raffle is full of great stuff! This wouldn’t be possible without all of the amazing sponsors! Thank you!
Want to be Batman? You can start by riding a Genuine Hooligan 170. We’ll walk through the features and functions of the scooter in this vid. Hope you enjoy it.
